Introducing Continual Professional Development (CPD)
for Irish Professional Dog Groomers Association
As part of our ongoing commitment to being the best at our chosen profession we are rolling out a Continual Professional Development or “CPD” system for all members of the IPDGA starting in January 2019. CPD is important for us to keep up to date with current trends and methods within our industry and is now standard practice in all professional careers. You will now have the opportunity to earn points for all your hard work and dedication throughout the year.

**Anyone wishing to submit a request to include their event in the CPD system can email me for an application form. Only recognised courses, seminars, workshops, competitions will be eligible for CPD points** |
You can earn points as you further your knowledge by attending recognised events/seminars/workshops, completing training days, participating in Grooming Competitions, Completing recognised qualifications, maintaining your well-being with yoga/Pilates practise/regular exercise among other things. The more points you earn the higher level of CPD you will achieve.
You will need to earn a minimum of 10 points per year to achieve the bronze award, 15 for the silver award and for all you over achievers its 20 for Gold award. Full details of the number of points available can be found in the table below.

Your CPD year will run from your annual membership renewal date.
Keep an accurate record of all activities that you would like to be awarded points for and submit using the form when you next renew your membership. Once records are received and verified, your points will be awarded. Each year you will receive a certificate and a sticker and your profile on the IPDGA public page will also display a label to show your achievement.

Historical achievements will also be recognised. For example if you completed your City and Guilds 7763-03/7750 Diploma or International Master Groomer qualification (in conj with IPG), LCGI or BDGA Higher Diploma qualifications prior to 2019 you will be awarded 3 points each year going forward for this achievement.
The points allocated for attendance at various activities will be valid for the CPD year you are claiming for. However, approved activities and points awarded may vary in subsequent years. Points will always be correctly displayed on each new card issued.
